On November 12, 2023, the Medicine Buddha Birthday Blessing Ceremony and Carnival was held at the Bailian Bodhi Meditation Center. The event was co-hosted by the Bailian and San Francisco Meditation Centers. Nearly 300 people attended this grand event.
The participants watched Grandmaster JinBodhi’s teachings on “Medicine Buddha’s Illumination.” They learned that the “Light of Compassion” is Medicine Buddha’s most potent remedy for healing illnesses, saving lives, and serves as the key to liberation from suffering, leading to happiness in eternal life. The Grand Master’s teachings stirred the compassion and kindness within everyone. A sincere chanting of Heart Mantra and a sincere blessing resounded throughout the hall.
Blessed by purified water! Blessed by the nectar of the Medicine Buddha, our bodies and minds were cleansed and our fatigue was eliminated. Many people were moved to tears in this compassionate scene.
The subsequent carnival activities elevated the joyful atmosphere to another climax. As everyone savored over a dozen varieties of delicious, healthy vegetarian food and snacks, they also engaged in prize-winning quizzes on various topics from Grandmaster JinBodhi’s health and wellness lectures, including three health red flags, weight loss, beauty, body slimming, and coronary heart disease. Every topic is of great concern to us. The audience eagerly raised their hands to participate in the quizzes.
Professional singers led everyone in a chorus, creating a festive atmosphere.
But, wait, there’s more! At the end of the celebration, participants had a chance to present beautiful flowers to the Medicine Buddha in hopes of wealth, luck, and beauty while others chose to practice meditation for purity and peace.
The Blessing Ceremony and Carnival concluded on a joyfully and peacefully high note!
